  • Not everyone loved the apartments. In June 1936 the Ottawa Journal reported that there had been a lively debate and threatened lawsuit by the tenants against their neighbour Dr. E.B. Echlin of 196 Elgin who had built a 40-foot “spite fence” to prevent residents looking into his property.
